Les projets YAR (ANR) et Cais (B-Monde/Agile Cymru) co-organisent une journée d'étude sur l'outillage des langues minorisées, en particulier dans un contexte d'enseignement.
Cette journée aura lieu le 5 mai 2026 en Bretagne, au Technopôle Brest-Iroise à Plouzane, dans les locaux de l'Institut National Polytechnique de Bretagne.
L'objectif de cette journée est d'échanger sur les pratiques d'outillage numérique des enseignant⋅es, des apprenant⋅es et des locuteur⋅ices de langues minorisées ou de variantes « non-standard ». Comment intégrer la multiplicité des variantes à son apprentissage, surtout si on ne les entend pas ou peu autour de soi ? Comment créer des outils avec les personnes qui les utilisent, et de manière adaptée au terrain ? Comment outiller l'enseignement et l'apprentissage de manière pertinente pour toute la communauté parlante ? Quelle éthique pratique pour le traitement automatique des langues minorisées ?
Nous encourageons donc les communications autour des thématiques suivantes (sans s'y limiter nécessairement) :
Ne qualifient pas : les travaux qui n'impliquent aucun locuteur⋅ice de la langue concernée et les travaux qui concernent des langues largement outillées.
Les propositions de communications sont attendues par email à degemer@yar.bzh avant le 13 mars sous la forme d’un résumé anonymisé d'une page (références comprises), en français ou en anglais. L'email doit contenir séparément votre nom, prénom et affiliation. En cas d'acceptation, les propositions donneront lieu à une communication orale.
L'inscription est de 10€, incluant buffet du midi et pauses. Une aide au financement de la mission pourra être envisagée sur demande.
Ce workshop est organisé avec le soutien de la Région Bretagne (B-Monde), du gouvernement Gallois (Agile Cymru), du CNRS et de l'INP Bretagne. Il s'inscrit dans une suite d'ateliers sur trois jours, du 4 mai au 6 mai. La journée du 4 (en anglais) sera consacrée à la question des évaluations de LLMs en langues brittoniques, et la journée du 6 (en breton) à la conception d'outils pour la transcription en classe avec des enseignants pour adultes.
Tools for minority languages: practical solutions for speakers, learners and teachers.
The YAR (ANR) and Cais (B-Monde/Agile Cymru) projects are co-organizing a workshop on tools for minority languages with a focus on teaching contexts.
The workshop will take place on 5 May 2026, in Brittany (France) at Technopôle Brest-Iroise in Plouzane, on the premises of Institut National Polytechnique de Bretagne.
The aim of the workshop is to discuss the digital practices of teachers, learners, and speakers of minoritized languages and “non-standard” variants. How can we integrate the multiplicity of variants into our learning processes? How can we create tools in collaboration with their intended users in a way that is adapted to the sociological context of a given language? How can we equip teaching and learning in a way that is relevant to the entire speaking community? What practical ethics for NLP in minoritized languages?
We welcome proposals on the following (non-exhaustive) topics:
Works that do not involve speakers of the language under focus, and works that concern languages for which tools are already widely available are not eligible.
Proposals should be sent by email to degemer@yar.bzh before the 13th March as an anonymous one-page abstract (including references), in English or French. The email should contain your name, surname and affiliation separately. Accepted abstracts will be presented as plenary talks.
Registration is €10, including lunch buffet and breaks. Financial assistance for travel expenses may be considered upon request.
This workshop is organized with the support of the Brittany Region (B-Monde), the Welsh Government (Agile Cymru), the CNRS, and the INP Bretagne. It is part of a series of workshops over three days, from 4 to 6 May. The 4 May (in English) will be dedicated to the issue of LLMs evaluations in Brittonic languages, and the 6 May (in Breton) to the design of tools for transcription in the classroom with teachers for adults.
